Pilibos: Chess (K-2nd)
Chess (K-2nd) at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School
Note: Depending on how enrollment goes, new students will take the beginner course and returning students will be placed into the continuation course.
8-week session
Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Class Dates: April 3, 10; May 1, 8, 22, 29; June 5, 12
In this 8-week chess course designed for K-5th graders, students will embark on an exciting journey to master the fundamentals of chess. They will learn how each piece moves, understand key concepts such as check, checkmate, and special moves like castling and en passant, and develop strategic thinking through basic tactics and endgame principles. Engaging activities, interactive games, and a friendly mini-tournament will ensure a fun and educational experience. By the end of the course, students will have gained confidence in playing chess and developed critical thinking skills that extend beyond the chessboard.
